The ILMIÖ rug designed and made to measure for our hallway was in heavy use for a decade in a household with teenagers and a dog. The rug always attracted a lot of admiration. When we sold our apartment, the buyer’s condition was that the rug would stay.

We wanted the entrance of our 1920s home to feel distinctive, personal, and joyful, and we knew that the ILMIÖ rug designed by Maikku and Hammi would welcome guests in exactly the right way. What I didn’t expect was that the designers would come to our home to take the necessary measurements themselves — that gave the rug an entirely new sense of value.

We didn’t want to compromise on material quality, especially for an entrance space, and we didn’t have to. The rug kept dirt practically invisible and was easy to maintain. When we moved to a new home, the new owner wanted to purchase the rug as well. I can’t remember ever feeling this emotionally attached to a rug.
